Millions of years ago, a remarkable event took place in what is now southern Germany. Around 14.7 million years ago, a massive meteorite struck the Earth, releasing an enormous amount of energy. The impact melted rocks at incredible temperatures, sending droplets of molten material high into the atmosphere. Some of these droplets traveled hundreds of kilometers before falling back to Earth across what is now the Czech Republic. As they cooled rapidly during their journey, they transformed into the beautiful natural glass we know today as moldavite.Over millions of years, the stones became buried, carried by ancient rivers, and shaped by water and weathering. This long geological journey created the unique textures, shapes, and shades of green that make every moldavite different.Today, each piece is a tiny fragment of an extraordinary story — born from a cosmic impact, shaped by the Earth, and preserved for millions of years.Perhaps that is what makes moldavite so captivating: when you hold one in your hand, you are holding a small piece of a story that began long before humanity.
