Size

Moldavites vary greatly in size, but most specimens are relatively small. Many pieces weigh less than 1 gram, while common specimens are often in the 1–4 gram range. Only a small proportion of moldavites reach weights of more than 10 grams.

Most of the original molten pieces did not remain intact. Only a small percentage preserved recognizable primary shapes, such as drops, spheres, or dumbbells, while most cracked and broke into smaller fragments.

Large specimens weighing several tens of grams are rare, making size one of the noticeable differences between individual moldavites.
